My Top Picks: Sephora’s VIB Sale

Each year, Sephora has their annual sale for Rouge, VIB, and Insider members. Between April 20-23, VIB members can use the code YAYVIB for 15% and Insiders (which is anyone who signs up on their emailing list) can use the code YAYINSIDER for 10%.

As I’ve fully dived into the world of skincare this year, Sephora has been my new go-to shop. Two big reasons: their return policy in unbeatable and they encourage getting generous samples before purchasing. Prices for hair and skincare products can be hefty, so I’m all for a store that encourages me to try it out with no risk.

So, with my newfound love for all things in Sephora, here are my top Sephora VIB sale items:

1. Devacurl’s Devatowel

About a month ago, I started the Curly Girl Method for my hair. It basically means using no sulfates, silicones, parabens, or heat. AKA, I gave up shampoo and started cleansing my hair with conditioner. That’s right. Instead of shampoo, I use conditioner on my roots to clean them. This method also calls for not using a traditional towel on your hair, which can rough up your cuticles. I’d been using a cotton tee shirt for a while and decided to graduate to Devacurl’s Devatowel. I’ve used it a couple times and already love it.

2. Clinique Foaming Sonic Facial Soap

This winter, I invested in a Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush and received a sample of this cleanser with it. I love how it lathers and it feels more hydrating than the traditional cleanser that came with my 3-Step routine, which has been perfect for winter months. They also have a bundle option to save you some money.

3. Devacurl’s B’LEAVE-IN™ Miracle Curl Plumper

While I’m on the quest for new staple hair products, I went ahead and bought this Devacurl product to try out. My hair hasn’t loved Devacurl’s other styling products, but I’ve heard great things about this one. While I was debating, a nearby Sephora store clerk said “If you don’t like it, return it.” Plus, it’s 15% off, so why not?

4. Olaplex No. 3 Treatment

This treatment has been getting more and more popular over the years (thanks to Kim Kardashian raving about it.)

Olaplex is a 3 step treatment program. Step 1 and 2 are done in a salon, followed up by the 3rd step done at home for maintenance. However, those with hair that isn’t severely damaged can use the No. 3 step on their own to benefit their hair. I tried it out for myself the day I bought it and I’m hooked. I followed up with Devacurl’s Melt Into Moisture hair mask and my hair felt amazing. I plan to use this consistently.

More info on what the No.3 step is:

“No. 3 Hair Perfector is not a conditioner, it’s an at-home treatment that contains the same active ingredient found in all professional Olaplex products. Created by two of the top PhD’s in chemistry and materials science, Olaplex products feature first-of-their-kind, patented, bond-building technology, which relinks the broken disulfide bonds caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damage to the hair. This formula is made to work with every hair type, providing real, structural repair that works from within.”

5. Dyson’s Special Edition Supersonic Hair Dryer Set

I am only a little embarrassed to say I finally purchased this hair dryer. I feel better knowing I saved $110 by getting 15% off and getting the storage case included. I’ve also had the same hair dryer since around 2009. It feels like it takes eternity for my low porosity hair to dry. And I will say, after using it for the first time this weekend, there is a huge difference in time spent drying my hair.

This hair dryer is usually ALWAYS excluded from store-wide sales and coupons (I’m looking at you, Bed Bath & Beyond’s 20% coupon). So, if you’ve debated whether or not to buy it, now is the time during Sephora’s VIB/Insider sale.

Items that I’d buy during the sale if I didn’t already have a full bottle of:

1. Drunk Elephant’s Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum

I recently bought this eye serum and totally love it.

2. Clinique’s Take the Day Off Balm

I use this every night as part of my double cleansing routine to remove make up and sunscreen. It does the job and doesn’t make me break out, which is a win!

3. RMS Beauty’s Un Cover-Up Concealer

I follow Julia Engel on Instagram and she posted about this concealer and I fell in love. It’s perfect for a minimal make up look. See her use it here. I purchased in color: 00.

4. Supergoop’s Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45

This sunscreen in powder form is perfect for on the go protection. I recommend the translucent color to set your make up but they do offer shades.

Items I’d eventually like to try:

1.  Herbivore’s Lapis Oil Balancing Facial Oil

This brand is getting a lot of buzz lately and the packaging is stunning.

2. Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil Mini

Every time I go into Sephora, I sample this on my hands. This oil feels amazing and once I run out of my No. 7 oil, I might upgrade to this one for my hands and neck.

Well, that’s it!
